The Second Law of Thermodynamics applied to Human Pregnancy
The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that the total entropy of any system will not decrease other than by increasing the entropy of some other system.
So what happens when your partner is creating a higher ordered being. By this law, she needs to increase the entropy of the whole system. This means she will suffer from nausea, vomiting, increased body temperature, as well as a whole host of entropic forces.
So what does a good scientist do to alleviate these symptoms?
I experimented with a number of things at first. Tums for indigestion (which she still gobbles), cooling the environment, lots of cleaning, etc.. All to be of very limited help.
So what did work? Efforts to create a less orderly environment around her. Throw around laundry! Yep, leaving the bed unmade, dirty laundry not washed, etc. seems to help as much as Tums! Help her by helping her increase the entropy of her environment, and all will be well!
Note, you may suffer other entropic responses like a punch to the arm and threats of violence, but remember that in the later stages of pregnancy it is really hard to follow through with those threats, so hang in there!
